Due to the corona crisis, education has been moved from school classes to living rooms. For a significant group of children it is not self-evident that they can also follow the lessons online. In many families, sometimes with several children, there is no or at most one laptop or computer available.
That is why LINDA.foundation has started a campaign together with SNEW to help this group of children. The refurbishing company selflessly collects written-off laptops from the business community and donates them to children who are at home without a laptop. These families already have a lot of worries and stress under normal circumstances, all the suffering behind the front doors is magnified in this time.
“It should not be the case that a group of children is excluded from good education. Being able to follow classes at home is now crucial in corona time. Our dream is a world in which people can develop to their full potential. We are a company that works from the heart and wants to give everyone a chance. More than half of our employees are people with a disadvantage in the labor market.”
Martijn van Engelen, CEO SNEW
SNEW and LINDA.foundation are calling on companies to donate their depreciated laptops. “We collect them, clean them, delete all data and provide them with new software. That way they are ready for a second life,” explains Van Engelen. “We start with a thousand laptops that we want to make as new. That’s a start. Because we will continue, even when the crisis is under control. Until all children can participate, at home or at school.”
